This third volume is an illustrated collection of the vehicles and support equipment involved in the transport of challenging and unique loads. Introducing another aspect of the world of heavy haulage – the heavy-lift mobile crane – the author attempts to capture these magnificent machines both on the road and undertaking their own contracted tasks.
In over twenty years, David Lee has photographed various models of tractor-trailer combinations engaged in difficult hauls in Great Britain. Among the exciting photographs in this volume is the largest and most powerful truck built by a British manufacturer at the time of publication. This is an Alvis Unipower MH8875 8x8 tractor with its type TST 70 MD 6/2 trailer designed and assembled by Nicolas. We see it undergoing reliability tests with a Challenger tank.
There are many other exceptional loads in this book, not forgetting the mobile cranes
