The first in this very exciting new series of three DVD programmes sees us follow a Ford 8630 we have known since new, from an arable farm in Suffolk to a dairy farm in Lancashire. This series is the story of the superb classic tractors and machinery we found there.
Andrew Atkinson has a true passion for Ford Series 10 and 30 tractors and is not afraid to put their power to good use on the farm - especially at silo time! With a huge fleet of Super Q Force II and Generation III tractors, including two Silver Jubilee 7810 machines, plus four Series 30 primemovers and two classic John Deere 6010 Series machines, Andrew uses all these tractors to run his dairy farm.
In this instalment we visit for the first time at first cut silage and are treated to the sight and sound of two trailed forage harvesters at work, a large Claas Jaguar 71 making a Ford 8830 sing out under full load and make beautiful music!
Second cut is just as magical with two choppers working into the night into the early hours, but we see much more than that as we find out through archive still photography what Andrew's farm used to be like from the 1950s to the present day, as well as what tractors he used to own and run along with his father.
We also return in the spring to see lots of other grassland work including rolling, applying slag and 'till-sowing' as well as a contractor injecting slurry with an umbilical system and New Holland tractors.
This is a truly unique DVD programme with loads of action, superb photography and a simply awe inspiring working fleet of classic tractors!
